Sexual Activity with Malaria and Typhoid

August 19, 2018 By Malaria Q&A Leave a Comment

Question: Can one suffering from malaria and typhoid indulge in sexual activity?

Answer: There is no medical reason, from the perspective of transmission, why someone infected with malaria and typhoid should not engage in sexual activity. However, both diseases are characterized by fever, nausea, and weakness; diarrhea is also common with typhoid (and a possible, though less common, symptom of malaria). As such, patients with these diseases are usually recommended to avoid strenuous activity, to rest, and to hydrate as much as possible, all of which may not be consistent with engaging in sexual activity.
